Busy days to "Feel your Freedom" (Vicky)
While I acknowledge that part of my wanting to come here was to take a step back, rest and listen inwards, I have to admit I’m loving the full daily schedules too – if nothing else because they distract from what might otherwise become unsatisfiable hunger pangs. And I know that while I would certainly get a lot out the deeply meditative mode I could get into these two weeks - and to a certain degree I am by just taking care of myself for once - I’m also getting so much out of the treatments and group sessions too.
Shiatsu massage, traditional Thai massage, brush massage, foot reflexology, full body massage. Stretching, meditation, yoga, colon massage, pranayama & peace chanting, spinal fitness, psychological counselling… to name a few. And that was just last week. As well as the glorious two-hour walking excursions every day through the vineyards here. And a visit to the Salem Monastery and Palace, an impressive 10th century redone in the 19th century complex that John is writing about. I’ve only just seen now the irony – or serendipity – of our choosing to visit a monastery (as opposed to Disney World) while we’re at Buchinger..
The craziest activity so far though was the Dance It Off session, where we “moved intuitively to inspiring music” – not usually my thing but that I (surprisingly to me) felt very deeply. Just closing my eyes, letting everything go and feeling the beat of the music. Later, lying on the mat, the instructor spoke - and we sang quietly - about feeling our freedom and letting the earth, water, air and fire – and ourselves – heal our bodies and souls. I felt something shift inside me; it was very powerful. I do feel softer, lighter and more relaxed, my joints are more flexible and pain free, my mind is more open, curious, as if everything I’ve experienced already here is quietly coming together, and helping me to see myself more clearly. I feel freer.
And I’ve lost 3,5 kg (7.7 lbs) so far. That feels pretty darn good too.
| Just an example of the breathtaking views of Lake Constance and the mountains behind that we come across as we walk through the vineyards. I just can't get enough of them. |
